Scarcity, Opportunity Cost and Competition impact our decision-making moment to moment. This makes economics the basis of life as we know it, after God. Nothing that people value is free, someone pays the cost. To gain that thing of value, scarce resources are given up and cannot be given up again for a different thing of value. And we all are competing to capture those scarce resources.

Healthcare and YOU
"Can Congress make a law so large that Congress itself cannot lift it?" Whoa, wait, that was the question about God... But here it is! "It shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection," a section of the healthcare reform bill says. So it is a one-way valve, a ratchet, a 'once done, never undone'. Or a Xerxes as my wife says...
